Trimmed the right way

Green fronds feed your palm. We leave them on.

Many crews strip palms down to a few fronds and call it a hurricane cut. University of Florida IFAS research shows that weakens the palm and makes it more likely to snap in a storm. We follow the Florida standard instead.

How we trim

Full, rounded crown

We remove dead, brown and hanging fronds plus seed stalks, and keep green fronds at or above the 9 to 3 o'clock line.

What we won't do

The "hurricane cut"

Stripping green fronds starves the palm, thins the trunk over time, and leaves the bud exposed to wind.

Services

Everything your trees need, one call.

Palm trimming

Dead fronds, boots and seed stalks removed, crown cleaned up, debris hauled away.

Seed pod removal

Stop the mess of falling dates and berries on pool decks, cars and pavers.

Tree trimming

Oaks and hardwoods thinned and raised off roofs, driveways and power drops.

Tree and palm removal

Dead, diseased or leaning trees taken down safely and cut to the ground.

Stump grinding

Stumps ground below grade so you can sod, plant or pave over the spot.

Storm prep and cleanup

Dead limbs off before the season, and downed trees cleared after a storm.

When to trim in Florida

Book before storm season, not during it.

Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Trimming in late winter and spring gets dead wood down before the wind arrives, and crews have more openings.

Questions

Common questions

How much does palm tree trimming cost in Florida?

We price by height: from $65 under 15 feet, $125 for 15 to 30 feet, $225 for 30 to 50 feet and $349 over 50 feet. Cleanup and haul-away are included, and 3 or more palms get 10% off.

How often should palms be trimmed?

Once or twice a year for most Florida palms. Remove dead and fully brown fronds and seed stalks. Green fronds feed the palm and should stay on.

Should I hurricane cut my palms?

No. Research from the University of Florida IFAS shows stripping green fronds weakens palms and makes them more likely to fail in high wind.

When is the best time to trim trees in Florida?

Late winter through spring, before hurricane season starts June 1. Dead or dangerous limbs should come down any time.

Do you match lower quotes?

Yes. Send a written quote from another Florida tree service for the same work and we'll beat it.
